BF2 Editor Tutorial

Under / Over Growth

I figured it out the other day.  I’m still new at this myself but here is what I’ve been doing to get undergrowth in my maps.

MAKING A PAINT BRUSH

1. Click on undergrowth when in terrain mode
you will see undergrowth on the left side under your map name.

2. You will see a folder named Material listed there, RIGHT click on it
it will give you a chance to add to the list. What I did was open the
object folder and find what plant I wanted to use first, then ADD that
name to the window that pops up.

3. Now that you have that done you will now need to again by clicking on
the one you just added, after doing that the second time you will now
have a list of properties in the tweeker. The first two properties will
give you a popup that looks like the terrain picker.

4. Now we have a brush we need to add what we want to paint.

5. Name the brush type, I try to name this what I’m going to be painting.  In this case it is grass even though I have “whatever” as a name.

6. Pick the mesh from the list; you will have to play around with this to find what you’re looking for.

7. Pick a texture you want to paint.

8. Click on undergrowth for painting the map.

9. Click on Toggle in order to see the grass that we are going to paint.

10. You can adjust the tweeker to add more or less grass; you will have to play around to make sure you do not lag your map.

11. One other thing is to click on render and check the items that are related to what you’re working on. I was able to view both texture and over/undergrowth at the same time to keep from covering roads and house.

Give it a try!

12. One more tip: Remember you can ALWAYS use the files to remove any mistakes or problems you encounter. Just delete the overgrowth folder or undergrowth files if you have a problem.

Overgrowth works just like undergrowth, hope this tutorial has helped you out.
